Carbon Neutral
In 2006 CMS Chemicals neutralised their emissions through Methane Capture Projects in Germany and Renewable Energy Projects in India.

Methane Capture Project
Rhine-Ruhr Waste Gas Power Project
This project captures methane from three abandoned coal mines in Germany.
Methane is 21 more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas. The project will generate emission reductions of 385,500 tCO2 equivalent in 2006 and 2007. |

Renewable Energy Project
Tirunelveli Wind Power Generation
This project sees the construction of 22 new wind turbines in India. By providing renewable energy, the project helps to reduce India’s reliance on fossil fuels for electricity generation. The project has generated emission reductions of 47,000 tCO2 between 2005 and 2007, verified to the Voluntary Carbon Standard. |
